What is a male enhancement surgery?
Penis size is one of the controversial issues for many men of all ages and backgrounds, as they are concerned about the length and thickness of their penises. That is why some opt for male enhancement surgeries.
Penis enlargement, or penile elongation, is a relatively quick genital male surgery aimed to increase the penis size. Penoplasty, in fact, refers to the combination of procedures that could be used depending on what the patient desires, such as girth enhancement, penile lengthening, or both. The surgery involves a collaboration of urology and plastic surgery and it is quite different from phalloplasty, which is the penis construction or reconstruction.
Medical experts only deem surgery to be necessary if a person has a condition called micropenis, which may have resulted from a hormonal imbalance that occurred during fetal development. This term refers to a penis that is seven and a half centimeters or shorter when stretched. However, some of the candidates are people with small penis anxiety who are so concerned that others will label their penises as small and therefore, refuse to undress around people.
Thanks to medical technology and anaesthesia development, modern surgeries, such as penis enlargement, have become safer as the chances of risks and complications are becoming smaller by the day. This procedure has several benefits such as increased penis length or width, which in turn boosts the confidence and self-esteem of the patient. Indeed, the patient will have a renewed sense of masculinity and, especially, sexual potency.

How is penis enlargement surgery performed?
Before penoplasty surgery:
During the initial consultation, the doctor will physically examine the patient so as to check for any health or anatomical issues which could be indicative of some serious hindering issue. The examination will include general health, penis anatomy, treatment history, and body mass index (BMI) levels. This will help the doctor decide what the most appropriate procedure for the patient’s medical case and desired outcome.
During male enhancement surgery:
Penis enlargement is performed on an outpatient basis under general anaesthesia, and lasts for one hour.
There are two main types of penis enlargement surgery:
- The first type is called penile augmentation and it has two methods. The first one includes injecting fat cells into the penis in order to increase length, girth, or width. The second method involves grafting fat cells from elsewhere in the body (donor areas) onto the penis. This is less invasive and can add up to two and a half centimeters after twelve months.
- The second type of surgery is the suspensory ligament release. This ligament anchors the penis to the pubic area and provides support during an erection. If the surgeon cuts the ligament, the angle of the penis changes, which in turn makes it look longer. Suspensory ligament release can increase flaccid penis length by one to three centimeters, on average.
Post-operative effects & recovery after penis enlargement:
Pain and soreness are expected after penis enlargement surgery. For this, the surgeon will prescribe the appropriate analgesic to make the healing process easier. The penis will be covered in a surgical dressing that requires to be changed regularly. After the latter is removed, the scar will be a bit noticeable but later hidden by pubic hair. Taking a few weeks off work is needed to rest and heal properly. Massaging the penis daily with Vaseline may be recommended as it prevents the penis from turning lop-sided. The area is to be kept clean and dry. The patient may need a month after the procedure to resume strenuous activity and over a month, for sexual relations.
Results of penis enlargement surgery:
The procedure guarantees an average increase in penis size varying between two and four centimeters in most cases, visible both at rest and during erection. It is noteworthy that the consistency and the dimensions of the second type of procedure, suspensory ligament, vary from one person to the other.
